BlackBerry Reportedly Making Android-powered Smartphone

Would you buy a BlackBerry Android phone?

Despite their fall from grace, BlackBerry’s devices are functional, secure and more importantly, easy to use if you work in a corporate setting. It’s shame though that BlackBerry’s app selection pale in comparison to Android. But if the rumors are true, you may not have to wait long to finally get the best of both worlds – Reuters is reporting that BlackBerry is prepping to release a phone with Android on board.

In a way, it’s nor surprising to learn this news – BlackBerry now holds less than a percent of global market share for phones, a far cry from a few years ago when they absolutely dominated smartphone sales. BlackBerry 10 is actually capable of running Android apps, but getting them isn’t as straightforward as on an Android device through Google Play.

We absolutely adore how BlackBerry’s keyboard and messaging feels, and if they can get a smartphone running both of those things off the ground, then BlackBerry may have a chance of winning back customers. Maybe.

  2. also, i doubt there is much to this rumor as the handset business isn’t exactly the focus of bb’s current leadership.
