Vivo Takes Aim Anew at Entry Level with the Vivo Y25

Vivo Takes Aim Anew at Entry Level with the Vivo Y25

Will this budget device make it to the rest of the SEA region?

Chinese brand, Vivo, has been making waves with their current selfie-centric releases: the Vivo V5 Lite, Vivo V5, and their dual front camera equipped Vivo V5 Plus. Unfortunately, the strength of these smartphones have pushed their more budget-oriented devices — like the Y55 — out of the limelight; a bit of shame given that its a pretty capable smartphone at its price point. Vivo has launched another smartphone in their Y series, the Vivo Y25, in the neighboring country of Malaysia, which makes us wonder if it will see the light of the day on our shores. Here are its specs.

Vivo Y25 Specifications

  • 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6580 quad-core processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 4.5-inch FWVGA display; 854×480 resolution
  • 16GB of expandable storage (up to 128GB)
  • 5-megapixel rear camera
  • 2-megapixel front camera
  • 3G, LTE
  • Dual SIM
  • WiFi, Bluetooth
  • OTG support
  • 1900mAh battery
  • Android 5.1 Lollipop with FunTouch OS 2.1

While the specs of the Vivo Y25 certainly won’t garner ooh’s and ahh’s, one has to remember that the Y series from the Chinese brand is aimed at those looking for an entry-level or a budget device. Speaking of which, The Vivo Y25 has been priced at $110 or Php 5,524.
