If one of your plans this Christmas is to buy a Cherry Mobile Flare, you might want to start looking for alternatives. Based on our own scouting reports as well as feedback from people, Cherry Mobile is having a difficult time keeping up with the crazy demand for their Php3,999 dual-core, dual SIM, Android ICS handset. Who can blame them though? That’s really crazy ass value if you think about it! Most sub Php5,000 smartphones still pack Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a single-core processor. Add to that the aggressive marketing push featuring no less than Anne Curtis-Smith and you have a smash hit. The Cherry Mobile Flare truly is a game changer and a disruptor.

“Stocks run out a few hours after they’re delivered.”

This is what three different Cherry Mobile kiosks and stores told us when we were doing the rounds in the malls in the last two weeks. Apparently as soon as the phones land they all get snatched up. The demand is so strong that some retailers are selling it at a higher price but bundling slow moving cherry mobile devices. Despite the bundle and the added price, people still buy them.

Cherry Mobile Alternatives: Skyfire and Titan still available

If you can afford to add two thousand pesos more to your budget, you might want to go for the Cherry Mobile Skyfire or the Cherry Mobile Titan. Both units are still stocked up in the Cherry Mobile kiosks and stores. These devices have bigger screens which is awesome for video playback and web browsing.

So what’s the best way to get a Cherry Mobile Flare? Well you can probably get the phone number of the kiosk/store that’s nearest to you and just call them for reservations. It will have to be that way until Cherry Mobile figures out a way to cope with the demand or until another local brand comes out with an equally competitive offering.
