Priced at just Php7,999, the Omega HD offers 1 dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, Android Jelly Bean out of the box, 5-inch HD display, and even a 12-megapixel rear shooter with BSI. Those are really good specifications and the fact that you can get them from a phone that sells for Php7,999 is just mind-boggling.

Let the unboxing begin!

Usual Cherry Mobile packaging

The Cherry Mobile Omega HD came in the usual colorful printed carton box. Product shot at the front with the Cherry Mobile logo and an iconized summary of main features at the bottom. At the back we found the complete specification list, links to their social media accounts, and a sticker saying “powered by MediaTek”.

Just like previous Cherry Mobile smartphones we’ve unboxed, we slid out the inner compartment after removing the tape. We were immediately greeted with the plastic-wrapped Cherry Mobile Omega HD. We picked it up, took the plastic off, and almost all of us had the same thought — it looks so much like a Samsung smartphone, lol. The white plastic body, 5-inch black screen, and even the chromatic buttons looked sooooooooo familiar, hehe.

The Omega HD though is arguably one of the most refined products of Cherry Mobile. For the chassis we have a very light and thin model, a major improvement over the gigantic Omega and Cruize. The screen-to-bezel ratio also was much better as we seem to have more screen and less plastic at the front.

For ports and buttons all the standard ones are at the sides of the device. Audio jack and microUSB port are on top. Power Lock is at the right while the volume rocker and camera shutter button are on the opposite side. The backplate was removable and we found the slots for the battery, microSD card, and the SIM card there.
