Cherry Mobile has announced the Alpha Style, their latest budget smartphone running on Windows Phone 8.1. Priced at just Php 2,999 (around 68 USD).

If you remember, Microsoft announced that they will be allowing ODMs and manufacturers to use Windows and Windows Phone for free under a certain screensize. This was done to promote growth in the Windows ecosystem, and it seems that it’s done exactly what the company intended. It’s still unclear if the company will rollout similar initiatives in other developing countries, or if it’s mostly a PH only thing, but one thing’s for sure – Microsoft has found a great ally with Cherry Mobile.
