First Cherry Mobile LTE Smartphone Leaked
Several members (first was a user named Mac Mac) of the Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2.0 forum are posting photos of flyers that contain the next wave of Cherry Mobile smartphones. We already saw the Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2X which is poised to be a new kick ass phablet offering. What caught our attention though was this little gem called the Cherry Mobile W900 LTE. Yes folks, this is the first local branded smartphone we’ve seen that lets you connect to LTE. This is possible because it’s running a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset (LTE is exclusive to them for now, sorry MediaTek fans).
Cherry Mobile W900 LTE Partial Spec Sheet
- 1.5GHz Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB Internal Storage, expandable via microSD Card
- 4.3-inches HD (1280 x 720) OGS Display
- 12.0-megapixels primary camera with LED Flash and BSI
- Android Jelly Bean 4.2
- SRP: Php11,499
- Comes with a FREE Power Bank
Definitely an intriguing offering from Cherry Mobile! Unfortunately though we don’t know what exactly the chipset is that they’re using so we can’t say for sure if this will be a good smartphone. If it’s the same processor used in the Sony Xperia SP though then this has good potential. We also don’t know how powerful the battery is. For all we know this only has a 1700 or 1800mAh pack.
Some food for thought though before you have a geekasm. The W900 LTE is priced at Php11,499 which is actually just less Php1,500 than the Sony Xperia SP or Php1,300 than the Sony Xperia V. Both of which are solid LTE devices that have competitive specifications even for global standards.
Anyway, we’ll definitely try to get our hands on a unit ASAP.
PS: Prices of both Xperia devices taken from Kimstore.
