CloudFone and Starmobile Soldout during the Holidays!

It looks like this month was a record-breaking year for local smartphone brands. We just confirmed from representatives of CloudFone and Starmobile that their latest flagship smartphones have all sold out. The CloudFone Thrill 430x (Php7,777) immediately grabbed tech headlines when it was announced that it packed a monstrous 4160mAh polymer battery, dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, 4.3-inch QHD screen, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Starmobile Crystal (Php7,990) also bannered tech sites and blogs boasting of a dual-core processor, dual sim capabilities, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and a gorgeous slim form factor with a 4.5-inch qHD display. With these specifications at these prices, it is a no-brainer that they would sell really well here in the Philippines.

We’ve reported earlier that Cherry Mobile is having a difficult time keeping up with the demand for the fast-selling Cherry Mobile Flare. This is probably the reason why they’re launching several new models, like the Cherry Mobile Blaze (Php6,499), to spread the demand across various units.

Android Revolution is real and it is happening in the PH

All of these reports point to one thing — that there is a major shift in how technology is used here in the Philippines. More and more Filipinos are getting Android smartphones and the local brands are the ones driving demand. It will be very interesting to see how this will all play out in 2013. This is a signal though to developers and programmers to polish their skills in doing apps for Android. It will definitely be the battleground of the masses.
