December promises to be a busy month for the consumer electronics and technology industry (aka gadgets)! We’ve gathered and filtered all the rumors we’ve gotten through different sources and listed them down below for everyone’s information. Note that the information below is not official.

Smart to Launch Xperia Z1 and G Pad 8.3?
A few months ago we attended the Sony Xperia Z1 regional launch in Malaysia. In our roundtable with Sony executives, they mentioned that Smart will be offering the Sony Xperia Z1 under their postpaid plans. We were actually hoping to see this tie-up happen around October but it looks like it will be this December (since this is the last month of the year already).

We also got a press release a few weeks ago about the impending launch of the new LG G Pad 8.3 under the banner of Smart Bro. Hopefully we get to see that materialize very soon as well.

LG to Introduce the Nexus 5 Locally?
The LG Nexus 5 is coming to the Philippines faster than we expected. Word is that it will launch next week. Smart was the telco that exclusively offered the LG Nexus 4 so we’re assuming that Smart will also be offering the Nexus 5 here. We’re not sure though if it’s exclusive. This is pretty awesome but what would even be better is if Smart also decided to offer the LG G2. 😛

From local brands we don’t expect any major announcements anymore. They’ll probably just roll out all of the devices that were announced in November (Starmobile, Cherry Mobile, and MyPhone all introduced new phones and tablets during this time period).

Just a heads-up! We recently got the official review unit for the LG G Pad 8.3. We’ll try to have the initial impressions out by Wednesday followed by the full review this weekend. 🙂
