Cherry Mobile Flare S vs Cherry Mobile Flare HD
Ever since we published our full review of the Cherry Mobile Flare S we’ve been getting a lot of questions via our Facebook Page if people should buy it or they should just wait for the Cherry Mobile Flare HD. The normal and common answer would probably be “of course just wait for the Flare HD” but in reality both devices offer very different strengths and weaknesses.
Here’s a quick summary of the pros and cons of both devices as well as our recommendations on what kind of user would benefit the most from either of the two phones.
Cherry Mobile Flare S: It’s All About Performance
Pros
- Very affordable at Php4,499
- 1.3GHz MediaTek processor is perfect for the set-up. Awesome gaming machine
- Fluid, smooth, and minimal lag
- Nice looking phone, not your usual glossy plastic budget phone
Cons
- Camera is way below average
- Battery life is dismal, 1400mAh really not enough
- Display is not HD
Cherry Mobile Flare HD: The Complete Package?
Pros
- Stunning HD display everything looks much better
- Fluid, smooth, minimal lag for basic and core functions
- Camera is average
Cons
- The processor and RAM have a hard time with demanding games like Dead Trigger 2 probably because it needs to push HD quality
- We have no idea how much it will sell for
Summary
If you want a gaming machine, go for the Cherry Mobile Flare S. Performance is much better because the processor is powerful enough for the 800×400 display. If you’re not that much into gaming though then the obvious choice is the Flare HD. The HD display just makes EVERYTHING better, including social networking, messaging, and watching videos.
While we don’t know the actual SRP of the Flare HD yet, word is that it will sell for below Php6,000. If it goes anywhere from Php5,000-Php5,500 this would still be a very good buy.
