First Shots: Huawei Mate 20 Pro in London

They’ve Outdone Themselves Yet Again!

Huawei launched the next generation of Mate 20 series devices in London a few days ago and, compared to the one they launched at about the same time last year, it’s leaps and bounds ahead in terms of camera performance. The company introduced its triple camera setup on the Huawei P20 Pro and it still holds the top marks on DxOmarks charts. We don’t think that’ll be the case when they get done putting the Mate 20 Pro through its paces, because the cameras on this new baddie are just incredible.

They’ve done something extremely different with the camera set up this time around, omitting the monochrome sensor for a 20-megapixel ultra-wide camera instead to give you a wider range of shooting options. The Mate 20 series is also equipped with the company’s new flagship SoC — the Kirin 980 — that now features two NPUs that uses its smarts to push what you can do with the camera setup even further.

Don’t believe us? Here are a couple of samples shots we’ve taken with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Let’s check out the zoom functionalities!

Now, selfies have always been a bit of pain point for Huawei devices but it looks like things are starting to take a turn for the better with their 24-megapixel front camera on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

As usual, we’re going to be reserving our judgment for our final review but, so far, we’re pretty blown away with the results. If you want to learn more about this phone, click on the video below:
