Together with the Galaxy Z Flip 5G and Galaxy Fold 2
Mark your calendars: according to Jon Prosser and Ice Universe, Samsung will be having a major launch on August 5. The launch is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 20 Series, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and Galaxy Fold 2, making it one of the biggest launches Samsung will ever have.
What do we know about the upcoming phones so far? Here’s a roundup:
Galaxy Note 20 series
Like the Galaxy Note 10 series, there will be two models. The vanilla model will settle for a flat display while the Note 20+ will have a curved panel. Both Note phones will retain the less curvy design of the Galaxy Note 10 series. Both phones will reportedly use a Snapdragon 865+ processor (other regions will use an Exynos 992 processor), and the Note 20+ will have a 4300mAh battery with a 25w charger out of the box.
As for the cameras, previous leaks report that the Galaxy Note 20+ will have a triple rear camera setup: 108-megapixel main rear camera, 12-megapixel periscope camera, and 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. While it will not have the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s 100x Space Zoom, the Galaxy Note 20+ will swap the Galaxy S20+ Ultra’s ToF sensor for a laser autofocus sensor.
Galaxy Z Flip 5G
Since the current Galaxy Z Flip is limited to LTE connectivity, Samsung is set to launch a 5G version. There’s no word yet of Samsung will add a 5G modem to the Snapdragon 855+ processor or use a different processor, though it is rumored to have a 256GB variant, along with a new brown color.
Galaxy Fold 2
Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Fold is rumored to use the same UTG glass found on the Galaxy Z Flip for added durability. While the display will have a 120hz refresh rate, Samsung is not going to put S-Pen support. The reason for this is that the current iteration of UTG cannot handle the pressure from an S-Pen. Aside from the 512GB variant, Samsung will launch a more affordable 256GB variant.
