Affordable computing by Google!
Google has announced that their Chromebooks – those affordable notebooks that are designed to connect to the internet to work – are coming to the Philippines. Yes, after a long, long while, Google will now be officially offering the Chrome OS and two Chromebooks, the Acer C720 and the C720P to our shores.
So what can you expect from the two new Chromebooks? Well, the C720 and the C720P are essentially the same device, with the 11.6-inch screen size, 16GB of SSD storage and Intel Celeron processor. The only difference is that the C720P is a tad thicker (19.3mm thick as opposed to 19mm) than the C720, and has a toucschreen display. The C720 has a price of $199 (around Php 8728) in the US, while the C720P is priced at around $299 (Php 13114).
Google says that the new Chromebooks will be available through Acer’s stores, as well as through Smart, though the telco hasn’t given us pricing yet for any Chromebook plan. Hopefully this announcement of Google will mean that more affordable Chromebooks will start arriving in the PH.
