Google’s Pixel Phones Confirmed to Officially Launch on October 4

More premium tier phones are officially inbound this last quarter of 2016 as Google throws its hat in with its Pixel smartphones on October 4. A couple of tech news outlets have noted that press invites have been sent. Google has also uploaded a short teaser video on YouTube for the product unveiling.

We covered Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones in an article the previous month. Here’s an update of the two phones’ rumored specifications.

Google Pixel (Nexus “Sailfish”)

Google Pixel XL (Nexus “Marlin”)

  • 2.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor
  • Adreno 530 graphics processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, 2560 x 1440 resolution
  • 32GB or 64GB internal storage
  • 12-megapixel rear camera, 4K video
  • 8-megapixel front camera, 4K video
  • Fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C
  • Android 7.1 Nougat
  • 3450mAh battery, Quick Charge 3.0

Aside from the Pixel smartphones, Google is also expected to unwrap a 4K-capable Chromecast unit, as well as a Daydream VR headset during the October 4 event.
