GoPro Recalls the Karma

Amidst stock prices falling and sales numbers lagging, GoPro announced that they’re issuing a recall for their newly launched GoPro Karma drone. According to their official announcement the reason for the recall is power loss during operation of the drone. That’s definitely a fatal error and it’s great to see that they’re acting fast to resolve it before it becomes a PR disaster. Here’s the official statement on the recall:

GoPro is committed to providing our customers with great product experiences. To honor this commitment, we have recalled Karma until we resolve a performance issue related to a loss of power during operation. We plan to resume shipment of Karma once the issue is addressed.

The Verge is saying that there have been 2,500 units only sold so far so it’s not a massive recall that will cause major logistical headaches for the company. Those who return their drones will get a full refund and will get notified when the new drone (fixed) is available for purchase.

Just to be clear, the GoPro Hero5 Black and the GoPro Session aren’t affected by the recall.
