And why its Oreo update has a catch
When HMD Global released its Android Pie rollout timeline, eagle-eyed readers noticed that the Nokia 2 was omitted from the list. This was strange considering the OG Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 are slated to receive Android Pie. Since a lot of people have asked about this, HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas explained to Twitter that they were not able to include the Nokia 2 due to hardware limitations. As a compromise to the absence of Android Pie, Sarvikas said that they are working on updating the Nokia 2 to Android Oreo, but there are limitations to it:
… This is why we give consumers 2 options: 1) Stay on Nougat with slightly better UI performance or then 2) upgrade to Oreo with latest features. We will enable option 2 shortly via a web page.

That being said, both HMD Global and Qualcomm gave their best effort to give the latest update to the Nokia 2, though it is not perfect. While rolling out an Android Go version for the Nokia 2 is an option, it is not possible since the Nokia 2 came with regular Android on board unlike the Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 1.
