A new twist on the old form-factor
Looks like manufacturing giant Huawei is looking into making rollable phones of their own, thanks to a new patent spotted by eagle-eyed folks at LetsGoDigital.
The new patent is an alternative to Huawei’s already existing folding smartphone designs, using rollable panels to extend a smartphone’s display footprint, kind of like how TCL did it for their prototype device.
The patent showed two approaches to this rollable phone: Model A showed a “bezel-less” smartphone that extended from the right side, while Model B shows the phone’s screen extending from the left.
Huawei isn’t new to using flexible displays for phones, as it already has two devices out in the wild using that technology – the Mate X and the Mate Xs.
