Huawei Dominates China’s Smartphone Market for 3Q 2019 According to Canalys

Huawei posted a massive 66% growth compared to the same period last year

Aside from bagging an 8.7% net profit for 3Q 2019, Huawei has dominated its competitors in the Chinese market as well. In Canalys’ 3Q 2019 report, Huawei posted a massive 66% annual growth compared to the same period last year and a 42.4% market share. Unlike competitors vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Apple, Huawei is the only brand that posted positive annual growth in terms of smartphone shipments in China.

Canalys VP for Mobility Nicole Peng explains that Huawei’s dominance means that they have the power to negotiate in the supply chain and in making its presence felt with retailers. Pair that with Huawei being one of the pioneers of 5G, and the Chinese tech giant is expected to dominate further in China.

For the rest of the rankings, vivo overtook OPPO for second place, while Xiaomi is behind in fourth place. Apple—the only non-Chinese brand in the list—took the fifth spot.

  1. Maybe its chinese patriotism that drove the sales for them? Having shipped that much, of course had to do with having google services, after the ban, am sure they will be affected.
