Huawei Makes Nova 2 Lite Official

Will it be another game changing phone?

Remember that phone we’ve been teasing the past few days? Well, now it can be told – the device is the Nova 2 Lite, part of Huawei’s Nova family of devices that debuted with the fast selling Nova 2i last year.

Huawei Nova 2 lite specs

  • 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 5.99-inch HD+ display, 18:9 display aspect ratio, 1440 x 720 resolution
  • 32GB of storage, expandable via dedicated microSD
  • 13-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture lens, 2-megapixel secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture lens, PDAF, LED flash
  • 8-megapixel f/2.0 front cameras with selfie toning flash
  • Dual SIM
  • 3G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, fingerprint scanner, Face Unlock
  • 3,000mAh battery
  • Android Oreo with EMUI 8.0

The new phone sits below the Nova 2i in terms of specs and hopefully price, and Huawei opted for a softer, lighter frame, encasing the Nova 2 lite in polycarbonate with chrome trimmings versus the Nova 2i’s full-metal bodied frame. Design-wise, the phone is still sculpted in Nova2i’s shell – sleek, lithe and slate-like (especially the matte black).

Big in entertainment, the Nova 2 lite is equipped with a 5.99-inch HD display plus an 18:9 wide aspect ratio and thinned-out bezels from all sides giving you more screen to consume your content with.

On the inside, Huawei opted to switch its own Kirin processor for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor, paired with 3GB RAM along with Huawei’s EMUI 8.0 OS running on top of Android 8.0. Just like the Nova 2i, the Nova 2i lite still comes packing with a dual camera on the rear, specifically a 13-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture lens with a 2-megapixel secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture lens, PDAF, LED flash. The second front-facing camera has been nixed, and only a single 8-megapixel f/2.0 front cameras with selfie toning flash remaining.

We have yet to extensively put the phone to the rigors of testing every bit of function it claims it has and we’ll share our findings in our first impression and full review features as the week progresses. As for the price and availability, we’re still waiting word on Huawei Philippines for that. What we do know is that the phone is slated to be released in the Philippines very soon. If that’s before or a few days after the big P20/ P20+ announcement on March 27 in Paris is anyone’s guess. Rest assured we’ll give you guys the goods once we get word on anything so best to stay tuned!

First Look: A New Huawei Phone launching very soon!
