Huawei Outs the Nova 2 and the Nova 2 Plus

Huawei’s Selfie-Centric Phones Have Dual Rear Cameras?

It’s been a pretty busy week in smartphone releases and one of the phones that was released yesterday was the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus from Huawei. The Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus are powered by the company’s homegrown SoC, a 2.36GHz HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor that has been paired with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage on the Nova 2, and 128GB of storage on the Nova 2 Plus. Aside from storage, we’re also going to be seeing a difference in screen size, with the Nova 2 having a 5-inch Full HD LPTS IPS LCD display and the Nova 2 Plus with a slightly larger 5.5-inch display of the same nature.

The Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus look very similar to other offerings coming from the Chinese market and could be looking to steal some of the thunder from other selfie-centric smartphones with its 20-megapixel front shooter. Both phones have a dual rear camera setup, so you can expect to add a bokeh effect after taking your photos; no Leica branding in sight, so we expect the cameras on the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus to perform similarly to that of the Huawei GR5 2017.

As for their prices, the Huawei Nova 2 will set you back by CNY 2,500 or Php 18,145, while the Nova 2 Plus is slightly more expensive at Php 2,900 or Php 21,490; if they make it to our shores that is.
