It is the 2016 flagship phone’s second major Android update
Huawei has been doing a great job so far when it comes to software updates: as of this writing, it has rolled out Android Pie to the Mate 10 and P20 series, Nova 3, and P10. The latest to join the Android Pie club is the Mate 9. The update is being rolled out in China, and a global rollout is expected in the coming days.
The changelog for the new update includes HiVision (Huawei’s own version of Google Lens), Huawei Share, and Digital Balance. This is officially the Mate 9’s second major Android update, so it is most likely the last update unless Huawei changes their minds.
