The race is on
2019 will be an interesting year as smartphone brands are pushing for foldable smartphones. Xiaomi teased their foldable smartphone a few weeks back, and Samsung gave its foldable phone a few seconds of fame in a teaser video.
Unlike Xiaomi’s version that folds in three parts, Samsung’s approach involves folding the phone into two and appears to have an outer, fixed display and an inner, flexible display. The teaser does corroborate with the Infinity Flex display Samsung presented late last year.
Huawei, on the other hand, teased their upcoming foldable smartphone in their latest MWC 2019 invite. Unlike Samsung’s approach, Huawei’s foldable phone appears to only have a single, flexible display like the Rouyu Flexpai. Huawei CEO Richard Yu mentioned that their foldable offering will come with a Kirin 980 processor and Balong 5000 5G modem.
