20 percent increase in sales despite the drama
While Huawei has had a rough go the past few months, the Chinese company has just managed to surpass its 2018 numbers in terms of phones shipped. The company says that it has managed to sell around 118 million smartphones in the first half of 2019 alone.
To be fair their placement in the US’ entity list happened at the tail end of Q2 2019, so it’s still unclear how much that particular snafu will play into the company’s bottom line at the end of the year.
Huawei’s network infrastructure business is also still going strong, even after the company has been accused of being a potential weak link in terms of national security (a claim that Huawei vehemently denies). Huawei’s network business raked in revenues of RMB 146.5 billion or around $21 billion, impressive considering the turmoil around the company.
The company also said that its other businesses including tablets, wearables, and PCs saw growth, and as a whole Huawei managed to rake in around 23% in revenue in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2018.
