Though they may not have it for long
Whenever you talk about market share and who has the biggest slice of the pie when it comes to smartphones, two names have always ruled the roost worldwide: Samsung and Apple. But now it looks like a usurper have managed to upend the mobile industry, and it ain’t who you expect. Huawei has managed to take over Apple’s second place spot, at least according to Counterpoint Research.
The research firm says that Huawei’s strong June/July sales was enough to take Apple off of second place. It’s an impressive feat for a company whose reach isn’t quite as far as Apple, since there are still some markets that Huawei hasn’t managed to completely penetrate.
The win might be short lived though, since there will be a strong surge in Apple device sales in the next few months once Apple unveils its newest smartphone models. But as they say, a win is a win – Huawei must really be pleased with themselves with their performance, as short lived as it is destined to be.
