It supports both 4G and 5G networks
Huawei made its 5G CPE Pro modem official to consumers months after it was presented at MWC 2019. The modem makes use of Huawei’s Balong 5000 multimode chipset that enables it to work with both 4G and 5G networks. On top of its multimode design, the 5G CPE Pro also supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz dual-band switching.
The 5G CPE Pro is tested to support speeds of up to 3.2Gbps, making it suitable for data-heavy applications such as 8K video and Virtual Reality (VR) computer games. The modem also features Huawei’s HiLink, enabling it to connect to any network with one click. HiLink is particularly useful for creating a mesh network at home and connecting various smart home devices.
Huawei has yet disclosed the pricing and availability of the 5G CPE Pro modem as of press writing.
