5G is coming and Huawei doesn’t want to be left behind
Communication juggernaut Huawei is currently conducting its global analyst summit in Shenzen, China which gives their partners an idea of their plans for the coming years. During the event, the Chinese company detailed to participants their upcoming plans for 5G, and confirmed that their first 5G enabled phone would be arriving Q3 2019.

The timing of the release may mean that the first 5G phone to come from Huawei may be under the Mate series, which has traditionally been the launchpad for new technology like their AI-infused, Kirin 970 chipset that was used in the Mate 10 and now powers their P20 and P20 Pro.
Before then, Huawei aims to launch their 5G-capable mobile WiFi modem during Q2 next year.
