Huawei’s Nova 7 Series are 5G-Ready Mid-Range Phones with 64-Megapixel Main Cameras

The Nova 7 Pro feels like a lightweight P40 Pro

Huawei officially announced its next-generation mid-range phones with the Nova 7 series. Comprising of the Nova 7 SE, Nova 7, and Nova 7 Pro, all three models are 5G ready devices with a 64-megapixel main rear camera, 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB storage options, and a 4000mAh battery with 40w wired SuperCharge.

The base Nova 7 SE has the same 6.5-inch punch-hole display used on the Nova 7i/P40 Lite/ Nova 6 SE, along with the same 16-megapixel selfie snapper. Like the Nova 7i, the Nova 7 SE also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel depth sensor, and 2-megapixel macro camera. The main difference with the Nova 7 SE is that it uses a 5G-enabled Kirin 820 processor that is at par with the Snapdragon 855 based on benchmark tests.

The vanilla Nova 7 also gets a punch-hole display, though it uses an OLED panel instead. The selfie camera is better at 32-megapixels, and it comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner. For the rear cameras, the Nova 7 swaps the Nova 7 SE’s depth sensor for an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. Lastly, the Nova 7 comes with a more powerful Kirin 985 processor. The Nova 7 Pro, on the other hand, looks like a toned-down P40 Pro with a curved OLED display and a pill-shaped cutout that houses an additional 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The telephoto camera on the Nova 7 Pro is upgraded to an 8-megapixel periscope module with 5x optical zoom and OIS.
