Huawei’s P9 and P9 Plus impressed us with their impressive dual cameras, but while the Leica co-branded phones managed to take amazing photos they weren’t the best choice for video since they lacked optical image stabilization. If rumors are to be believed, Huawei is looking to put in OIS in the dual-camera, Leica-branded Mate 9 which should address that problem.
The dual-camera setup of the P9 and the P9 Plus probably presented technical challenges to Huawei’s team when they first released the phone a few months ago, which should be addressed by the time the Mate 9 rolls out. Aside from the dual-camera setup, Huawei’s upcoming phone is expected to run HiSilicone’s Kirin 960 chipset, along with Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.0. Rumors also mention either 4GB or 6GB of RAM on the device, as well as Cat.12 LTE.
