Do you keep running out of battery?

The biggest problems with smartphones (most gadgets actually…) is the battery life. Most of the time the day isn’t over yet and you’re already running out of juice especially if you’re a heavy user. That’s why we believe that having a back-up portable charger is essential if you want to stay connected. One of the chargers that’s currently in the Unbox HQ for testing is the new ibattz Mobile Battstation Tough Pro 12,000mAh Portable Charger. What’s special about this particular charger though is that not only does it look kinda cool in a rugged way, but it also has a lot of power in it! The average smartphone has less than 2,000mAh in battery. This portable charger has 12,000mAh. That’s at least 5x 100% charges for your iPhone 5, hehe.

Among all the portable chargers we saw on display in one store, the ibattz stood out the most because of the orange color it used for the box. Most of the other portable chargers were either in plastic transparent blister packs or generic white boxes. The orange color really made the ibattz pop out!

The box itself is pretty straightforward. Product shot at the front with the product benefit claims. All the disclaimers and specs at the back. To open we just removed the tape at the side and popped the carton open. There was a plastic container inside which contained the product.

The portable charger unit was covered with a silicone/rubber protector case which is supposed to be shock and splash resistant. The made it look a little more kick ass though by having some sort of design with the actual case. If you don’t want the cover you can actually pull out the unit but it’s advisable keep it in there since you’ll probably just stuff this in your bag with the rest of your things.

Other than the charger we found a USB to microUSB cable, an Apple PIN converter, and a Samsung Galaxy Tab port converter. There was also a manual inside the box.

ibattz Mobile Battstation Tough Pro Review

We’ve been using the ibattz Mobile Battlestation Tough Pro for a few days now and we can definitely confirm that it packs a lot of power in it. We’ve used it to charge a Nokia Lumia 920 four times over and there was even one instance wherein we charged both the Lumia 920 and the Xperia Z at the same time back to full power… twice! It even had some power left after juicing both phones up.

It has 2 USB ports for charging 2 devices simultaneously. It also has a miniUSB port when you need to charge it already.

The plastic strip is an LED light. There are several blue lightbulbs that light up to show how much power it has left.

As far as our initial testing goes the product lives up to the claims posted on the box. It can charge your smartphone several times over back to 100% and it also looks awesome. Unfortunately it’s not that cheap, hehe. This particular model of the ibattz retails for Php3,500. We think it’s a great investment though since it can potentially be a lifesaver since we rely heavily on our smartphones and gadgets these days.

ibattz products are available at stores of Beyond the Box, Digital Walker, and Digital Hub.
