IFA 2017: Sell Your Kidney, Get This Beastly Acer Desktop

This PC Will Melt Your Face and Your Bank Account

It wasn’t too long ago that Acer gave us a look at their ultra-expensive gaming laptop with a 21-inch curved display and a full mechanical keyboard — the Acer Predator 21x. Well, it looks like the company is at it again and has released a desktop rig that will surely make all the gamers of the world drool as the contemplate selling one of their kidneys.

Meet the Acer Predator Orion 9000.

The name may not be “Over 9000”, but we’re pretty sure that this beastly desktop rig’s performance is through the roof. Let’s not beat around the bush and talk about its juicy internals before we talk about its chassis.

At its core, the Predator Orion 9000 has an Intel Core i9 Extreme Edition processor (Yup, that’s 18-cores and 36 threads), which is paired up with up to 128GB of quad-channel DDR4 RAM. A kick-ass rig with this amount of processing power should have at least two killer GPUs, right? And you would be partially correct if you were thinking that because the Orion 9000 can either come with two NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti’s in SLI or you could go nuts and stuff it with up to four Radeon RX Vega cards.

To make sure those internal components are kept cool and to keep it from burning your house down, Acer has liquid-cooled the Predator Orion 9000 and equipped with the company’s Ice Tunnel 2.0, which is supposed to optimize the airflow within the system by separating the system into multiple thermal zones. This is, of course, aided by the mesh panels that can be found on the top and front of the chassis that are equipped with 120mm fans to make sure all its working parts gets a fresh supply of cool(er) air with just a touch of LED lighting on the inside and on the fans themselves to show off the hardware inside; completely optional, of course.

The chassis of the Predator Orion 9000 still bears a bit of the “armor plating” that we saw in previous desktops from the Taiwanese brand, but since it’s mostly made of mesh this time around it isn’t as ostentatious. You’ve LEDs on the front panel of the case to break up the black lines and to illuminate the Predator logo and power button. A windowed panel on the left side to show of your internals and also has a quick-open latch in case you want to tinker inside the belly of this beast. The opposite side is solid though you are getting easy access to the back as well should you choose to change storage and clean up the cables further. On top of the Orion 9000 are the USB ports and audio ports, plus handles should you choose to bring around the expensive rig for a good ‘ol fashioned LAN party.

As far as pricing and availability go, the new series of G9 desktops will be out in the US by December this year and is going to cost $1,999 or roughly around Php 102k.

And, no, we’re not actually suggesting you sell one of your internal organs to get a desktop PC or any gadget for that matter.
