Intel launches More Powerful, Battery-Efficient 8th Gen Processors

Aside from all of us witnessing the first solar eclipse in 40 years, Intel is launching its 8th-generation processors on August 21. Called “Kaby Lake Refresh” (and not Coffee Lake), they are the third iteration of 2015’s Skylake processors, focusing on battery life and speed. While it is not considered a major refresh, Intel claims that the new Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) processors are as much as 40% faster than Kaby Lake processors. How is this attained? By upgrading the ULV processors from two cores to four cores with hyperthreading.

Other claims include up to 10 hours of battery life when viewing 4K, and 4K video rendering in three minutes.

Heres’ a quick overview of the 8th-gen i5 and i7 ULV processors:

If you will be asking which laptops (specifically ultrabooks and 2-in-1 laptops) will be using these processors, we’ll keep you guys posted.
