Intel Unveils 9th-Generation Core Processors

Featuring Octa-Core i7 and i9 processors

Intel unveiled its latest line of Core processors in a press conference. The announcement is led by the Core i9-9900K, which Intel claims is the “world’s best gaming processor”. The new processor has eight cores, 16 threads, and up to 5.0Ghz single-core turbo frequency. The 9th-gen Core i7-9700K and Core i5-9500K processors feature octa-core and hexa-core configurations respectively.

While they are 9th-generation processors, they are still manufactured using the 14nm process—the same process used since 2014’s Broadwell chips. Intel’s 10nm Cannonlake chips are delayed until 2019.

In addition, Intel introduced its refreshed line of Core-X processors made for creators, led by the Core i9 Extreme. Called the Core i9-9980XE, it boasts of 18 cores, 36 threads, and a maximum CPU boost of 4.5Ghz.

The 9th-generation processors will be shipping on October 19, while the Core-X chips will be made available in November. Pricing for the new processors are as follows:

Core i9-9980XE – $1,979(~Php 107.2k)

Core i9-9960X –$1,684(~Php 91.2k)

Core i9-9820X –$889(~Php 48.2k)

Core i7-9800X – $589(~Php 31.9k)

Core i9-9900K – $488(~Php 26.5k)

Core i7-9700K – $373(~Php 20.2k)

Core i5-9600K – $262(~Php 14.2k)
