iPad Air Announced!

Apple just wrapped up their event and they made pretty big announcements. The one that totally caught us by surprise was that OS Mavericks was a free update but we’ll get into that in another post. For now we’d like to zero in on the new iPad which they’re calling the iPad Air. The name isn’t just a gimmick folks. It really is thinner and lighter despite having even more powerful internals than it’s predecessors. The new iPad Air weighs just 1 pound (down from 1.4 lbs) and it even has a thinner bezel. As expected, Apple put in their new A7 and M7 chips in the device making it the most powerful iPad to date.

In terms of software the iPad Air runs on iOS 7 out of the box and it has the iLife and iWork apps free. That’s a pretty compelling proposition if you ask us and it looks like Apple wants to make sure iPad users to not even entertain the idea of switching to Microsoft powered tablets, hehe.

The iPad Air will be available in selected countries starting November 1. Pricing remains the same. By the way, it just so happens we’ll be in Singapore that day so if ever it does become available by then we’ll definitely pick one up and bring back a unit to the Philippines!
