Is 400GB for a microSD Card Overkill?

400GB folks

That’s A Lot of Storage

Sandisk just took the wraps off their newest microSD card which can store up to 400GB. Officially named as the 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card, it has transfer speeds of up to 100MB, meets the A1 App Performance Class l, and is priced at a whopping $250.

Is 400GB overkill for a microSD card? To the regular user, yes. However professionals and content creators will most likely fill it up in a few weeks or months. The advent of 4K/360 video and super high resolution photos will speed up maxing it out.

Video-centric smartphones, like the newly released LG V30, stand to take full advantage of this as well. It helps that it’s A1 App Performance Class which basically means all apps installed on the microSD card load much faster.

This kinda makes the case for expandable storage on smartphones even stronger, hehe.
