Works great with Android devices too

With so many headphones out in the market today, it’s hard to find a product that would suit your taste and your budget, especially when you’re looking to upgrade from the sub 5K segment of the market to something a bit pricier. JBL’s Synchros S300i certainly fits the bill as far as the price is concerned, coming at Php 10,990 but does its performance justify the high price tag that it’s asking for?

The Synchros S300i’s design is a good tradeoff between visual flash and comfort. The headband of the S300i is made of steel, while the top of the headband and the ear cups are made with oh so soft leather. The earcups has cuts on the left and right which exposes the blue plastic beneath, which breaks up the otherwise monotonous white design of the cups. Both cups rotate and twist for superior fit and comfort while use, and can fold up for compact storage when you don’t need them.

One nice feature of the S300i is that the audio cable detaches from the headphone for use and storage. This also means that the cable will automatically detach when it gets pulled suddenly or gets caught on something when you move around while wearing the S300i, preventing accidental damage to the audio cable that plagues other non-detachable cables. Speaking of the audio cable, it has in-line controls for iPhones, though our tests show that it also works with Android devices as well.

The S300i is one of the most comfortable over-ear headphones that we’ve used, thanks mainly to the soft leather that’s used with the headphone. We did notice it felt a bit tight on our larger than average noggin even with it fully extended, something to keep in mind if you’re thinking about buying the S300i.

As far as sound quality is concerned, the S300i delivers. Its 40mm drivers is capable of pumping out a lot of volume with no trace of distortion. JBL advertises that the S300i uses the company’s PureBass tech and is capable of deep and powerful bass. In our tests we found that the bass of the S300i was great, but not as deep and powerful as JBL claims. Still, the sound quality is very good, with the mids and highs coming in clear and crisp. The sound quality is certainly what you’d expect from a pair of cans with an almost 11K pricetag.

While the Php 10,990 price tag may seem steep especially for a pair of headphones, the JBL Synchros S300i delivers excellent performance all around. It’s certainly a comfortable pair of cans, and its sound quality is nothing to scoff at.
