We review KingCom’s new Beehype Bluetooth speakers!

Bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen nowadays, and you can get one cheap if you look hard enough. Getting one that lasts on the cheap, however, is a different story. Much like power banks, you get what you pay for with Bluetooth speakers, and sometimes the only way to ensure the stuff you’re buying isn’t going to catch fire or explode on you is to buy quality, expensive stuff. Well, KingCom wants to change that with their Beehype speaker – it’s a quality Bluetooth speaker that has all you’re looking for without the usual, bloated price tag.

The Beehype speaker gets its name from its physical appearance. It’s a cylindrical type speaker with speaker grilles all around, with a honeycomb-like plastic material surrounding it. There are three buttons to control the speaker all located on top of the device (more on this later) along with LED lights to show you the speaker’s current connection status. On the bottom lies the USB port, NFC pairing area and an auxiliary 3.5mm jack if you want to use the speaker with a device that doesn’t have Bluetooth connectivity.

The Beehype is meant to be used outdoors, that’s why there’s an included carabiner in the package so you can hang it wherever you want. The speaker is also IPX5 rated, meaning it’s splashproof. It can take being soaked by rain, but it’s not rated to be plunged underwater, so it’s best to keep it out of the elements if you can help it.

Internally the Beehype speaker is powered by a 2000mAh battery that has a quoted runtime of around 9 hours, in practice it was closer to around 8. The Beehype has NFC technology built into it which makes pairing a breeze if you have a device that has NFC capability.

As far as actual audio quality is concerned, the Beehype delivers good sound quality for the price. It’s easily capable of filling a room with sound though bass is lacking at higher volumes. Bass heavy tracks tend to distort at maximum volume, so we recommend that you lower the volume when listening to rap music or anything that has heavy bass. Despite that the Beehype is a rather good speakers, especially for the price.

Verdict: Very good value for money outdoor speakers that won’t break the bank

KingCom’s Beehype speakers are functional, easy to use, can resist the elements and more importantly, won’t break the bank. At a mere Php 2,280, it’s a very good deal considering the features and performance of the speaker.
