Leaked Renders of Sony’s upcoming Xperia Smartphones may Ring a Bell to You

Leaked Renders of Sony’s upcoming Xperia Smartphones may Ring a Bell to You

Retaining the same design language Sony has been using for the past few years

Nokia and ASUS have just launched their new smartphones yesterday with the Nokia 8 and the ZenFone 4 family respectively. As we wait for the official launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 on August 23 (US time) and LG’s V30 on August 31—a day before the annual IFA, let’s not forget that Sony has a few smartphones to be unveiled at IFA.

Prior to the annual event, it has been reported that Sony will be releasing three models: Namely the XZ1, the XZ1 Compact, and the X1. Reliable tipster OnLeaks revealed a few days ago the render of the XZ1, and yesterday, he revealed the render of the XZ1 compact:

Comparing both renders, Sony has retained the same “Omnibalance” design language it has used with past Xperia models. In fact, the XZ1 Compact is essentially a smaller version of the XZ1, albeit slightly thicker by almost 2mm. While the XZ1 will be sporting a 5.2-inch display, the XZ1 Compact will have a 4.6-inch display. Both devices will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor and 4GB of RAM, with the XZ1 having a 3000mAh battery and the XZ1 Compact using a smaller 2600mAh battery. Both models will be using USB-C, and come with Android Nougat out of the box.

Like with all rumors, let’s take this with a grain of salt. However, given OnLeaks’ reputation with being on point with leaks, these renders might be more or less what Sony’s next smartphones will look like.
