Lenovo’s Ideapad Duet Chromebook Costs Less Than Most Mid-range Phones

It’s powered by a MediaTek processor

Truly affordable notebooks not made by shady fly-by-night brands are hard to find nowadays, but bargain hunters might finally have a solid option if Lenovo’s newest Chromebook arrives in the Philippines. Their new Ideapad Duetis a small and inexpensive Chromebook that covers the basics and retails for less than a typical mid-range phone.

This 10.1-inch convertible tablet is priced at just $279 (that’s around 14.2K Filipino bucks) and comes with a physical keyboard for the price. Of course to get the price that low, Lenovo had to settle for a processor other than what Intel is hawking – specifically, MediaTek’s Helio P60T processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

While the processor choice may not be ideal, it’s important to remember it just needs to run Chrome OS and its associated apps, so that processor choice can be forgiven. What’s more important is that the Ideapad Duet can fulfill most people’s need for a notebook for less than the price of a typical smartphone today.
