Is it a phone or is it a camera?

Lenovo has just announced its new smartphone/part-time point-and-shoot camera, the Vibe Shot at MWC today. The Vibe Shot is the company’s attempt at creating a sleek and elegant phone/camera hybrid that you can take around with you that’s not too bulky. Indeed, the overall design of the Vibe Shot reminds us a lot of Sony’s TX series of point-and-shoot cameras.

Obviously the main draw of the Vibe Shot is its imaging capabilities, which is powered by a 16-megapixel rear camera that uses a six-piece modular lens. A tricolor flash keeps everything nice and bright when shooting in low-light, and Lenovo is bragging that the Vibe Shot uses an infrared focus system that focuses twice as fast as a normal autofocus system. The camera also features two shooting modes – Smart and Advanced – that allows users to control the imaging aspect of the device according to their preference and comfort level.

After all that’s said and done, the Vibe Shot is still an Android phone at heart, and to this end the device uses a 5-inch full HD display panel, as well as an unnamed Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 32GB of storage, Android 5.0 Lollipop, WiFi, LTE and dual-SIM capabilities.

The Lenovo Vibe Shot will retail for $349, which is around Php 15,385 in our currency.
