This is LG’s newest flagship

LG has officially announced the G4, the company’s follow-up to the G3. Just like the leak says, the ovearall design aesthetic of the G4 hasn’t changed drastically from the G3, and the device still sports the same back button layout as before. The G4 will have a geniune leather back that’s similar to the same ones that the fashion industry uses, and LG says that they have employed a vegetable tanning method which is utilized by only 10% of the leather industry. Contrary to expectations, not all G4s will ship with the leather back, and for those not lucky enough to get the leather edition they will have to settle with the plastic back in either ceramic white or metallic gray.

The display is still a QHD panel, but this time around the company used a Quantum HD panel which they say is able to deliver better color accuracy. The new display has 20% better color reproduction, 25% improvement in brightnest and has 50% better contrast than the G3.

The camera of the G4 has been improved, with the 16-megapixel rear sensor sporting a 1/2.6″ diagonal sensor with a megapixel count of 16. That’s accompanied by a f/1.8 lens, which LG says is capable of gathjering 11% more light than the Galaxy S6. The G4 also comes with an OIS unit that works over three axes, and is capable of compensating for movement up to two degrees, which in an improvement over the previous device. The front camera has an 8-megapixel sensor. You can learn more about the optics of the LG G4 in the video below.

Unfortunately though, the G4 uses the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor over Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 (processor used by Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet), in a dual-core Cortex-A57 and quad-core Cortex-A53 arrangement. There’s 3GB of RAM and 32GB of stroage on board, along with microSD expansion. The G4 is capable of wireless charging though a dedicated back is required to use it. The battery holds 3000mAh of power.

No pricing or availability has been set.
