The LG G Pro 2 is finally here!
Remember LG’s gigantic 5.9-inch phablet, the G Pro 2? Well, today is the day that the company officially launches it here in the Philippines! If you’re unfamiliar with the G Pro 2, let us refresh your memory:
LG G Pro 2
- 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800
- 3GB RAM
- Adreno 330 GPU
- 5.9-inch IPS display, 1920 x 1080 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass 3
- 16/32GB storage, expandable via microSD
- 13-megapixel camera with OIS, autofocus, 4K recording, 1080p @ 120 fps
- 2.1-megapixel camera
- 3,200mAh battery
- Android KitKat 4.4
- Php 32,990
The design of the G Pro 2 is typical of LG’s line of smartphones – while it certainly is imposing (even to someone that has larger than normal hands) it’s not uncomfortable to use, though using it one handed will be a challenge unto itself. The G Pro 2 has the same button layout that made the original G2 great, which is to say that both its power and volume rocker keys are located on the back. The bigger size of the G Pro 2 definitely make reaching for these keys a bit more challenging for smaller hands, though not at all impossible.
The G Pro 2 has LG’s enhanced knock feature, and now you can use a series of knocks as your unlock code. We’re not sure how the knock unlock codes work in practice (or if they’re accurate enough to allow you to replace your phone’s traditional lock feature) but it’s definitely a cool innovation, even if you can only use it to wow your friends.
As far as pricing goes, you can expect that G Pro 2 to retail for Php 32,990, which is definitely a bit steep considering the specs. Then again, if you really need a gigantic phablet in your life, the LG G Pro 2 might just fit the bill.
