Logitech K480 Wireless Multi-Device Keyboard Review

Logitech K480 Wireless Multi-Device Keyboard Review

The Logitech K480 is an affordable and versatile wireless keyboard that’s built for multi-device users. It connects via Bluetooth and it’s compatible with PC, Android, iOS, and Mac OS, making a great all-arounder. One thing going for it also is the price as it sells for just Php2,250 here in the Philippines.

Keyboard for All Occasions at the Work Desk

So what makes it so versatile? First is the built-in physical keys that make connectivity easier. To pair there are two built-in buttons already on the upper right part of the keyboard. Holding down on either lets you pair with a PC/Android or Mac/iOS. You can pair up to 3 devices with the K480 and you can easily switch to which one you prefer with the built in dial on the upper left hand corner of the keyboard.

There’s also a ridge on the top which lets you slide in your tablet or smartphone. It acts as a stand so that it’s easier for hand-eye coordination. We tried the iPad, iPhone, Google Pixel, and a Galaxy Tab. No issues with any of them.

As a keyboard, the K480 is spaced out evenly making it easy to type. It’s quite loud though but not yet on the level of mechanical keyboards which just fill up a room with clicking sounds. There are also alternative buttons labelled properly for Windows and Mac OS such as the Start and Command buttons.

Not Really Portable

We have to main concerns with the K480. First is that it’s not that portable. It weights 1.81 pounds and it’s 0.78-inches thick. It’s not a slim and lightweight keyboard that you can bring with you everywhere. It will literally take up a lot of space in your bag. This is the type of keyboard that’s meant for your desk.

Secondly is that it needs two AAA batteries to work. In an age where everything is rechargeable, it’s a sore to see gadgets still needing disposable batteries. However they probably made this choice to keep the price reasonable at Php2,250. A lot of wireless keyboards that are rechargeable usually cost twice as much. Also take note that Logitech is claiming that the two AAA batteries should last you at least 2 years with normal “office usage”.

Great Buy for People Who Use Multi-Devices

If you’re someone who has multiple devices on the desk while working, the Logitech K480 is for you. The fantastic price, versatility, and wireless build makes it a superb practical work companion. If you need a more portable keyboard though there are other options you might want to take a look into (unless you want to bring this clunky thing in your bag all the time).
