An affordable version of the Dimensity 1000
While the Reno3 is the first phone to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000 5G chip, the Taiwanese chipmaker is set to launch a more affordable version with the Dimensity 800.
Slated for a Q1 2020 launch, the Dimensity 800 is set to compete against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G. Like thew Dimensity 1000, the Dimensity 800 comes with a built-in 5G modem as well.
MediaTek has yet divulged the technical details on the Dimensity 800, but the chip is expected to power mid-range 5G phones while the Dimensity 1000 will power higher-end 5G phones.
