Brand-new chipsets for the mid-range
MediaTek is revving up to announce two new members of its mid-range Helio P series of chips later this month.
The launch, to be held on August 29 in Beijing, China, will show off the Helio P23 and Helio P30. The Helio P23 is rumored to be made using a 16nm manufacturing process and will have an octa-core processor that can support 2K resolution displays plus dual-camera setups, as well as Cat.7 connectivity and LPDDR4X memory support.
The Helio P30, on the other hand, will sport a 12nm manufacturing process, octa-core processor setup (quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A72 + quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53), along with Cat.10 capabilities, resulting in theoretical download speeds of around 600mbps.
Rumors speculate that Chinese manufacturers will be able to release devices powered with the new chipsets at the end of the year.
