MediaTek to Roll Out Helio P70 this Month

It will be their answer to the Snapdragon 710

MediaTek has been relatively quiet for the latter part of 2018, following the success of their AI-powered Helio P60 and budget-centric Helio P22 and Helio A22 processors. There have been rumors about the Helio P70 since the start of this year, but we have yet heard any development since then.

Recently, industry insiders have confirmed that MediaTek will be unveiling the Helio P70 processor this October. Aside from sporting Cortex-A73 cores and Cortex-A53 cores, the Helio P70 will be made using a 12nm process. A Mali-G72 MP4 will power the Helio P70’s GPU, and it will use a discrete NPU—different from the APU seen with the Helio P60.

If the Helio P60 is MediaTek’s answer to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660, the Helio P70 will be the Taiwanese chipmaker’s response to the recently-launched Snapdragon 710.

The Helio P60 has been one of the better chipsets from MediaTek, and it has been used on over a dozen phones that include OPPO’s F7 and F9, vivo’s V11i, Cherry Mobile’s Flare S7 Plus. Given its success, we expect the Helio P70 to be as good, or even better, than the Helio P60.
