Micro LED, Neo QLED Graces Samsung’s 2021 TV Lineup

For CES 2021, Samsung announces two new additions to its TV lineup with the Neo QLED and Micro LED TV Lines. Available in 8K (QN900A) and 4K (QN90A) models, Samsung’s Neo QLED TVs make use of Quantum Mini LEDs that are managed by Quantum Matrix Tech and a Neo Quantum processor.

With Quantum Mini LED as the headlining tech feature of Neo QLED TVs, Samsung managed a design that is 1/40 the height of conventional LEDs, where it utilizes very thin micro layers with multiple LEDs. Controlling those LEDs is Samsung’s Quantum Matrix tech, helping users view content with a 12-bit luminance scale and 4096 steps for a more immersive HDR experience.

The Neo Quantum processor, on the other hand, makes use of 16 different neural network models to train the TV better in AI upscaling to 4K or 8K output regardless of input quality.

With the 8K model, Samsung is introducing its Infinity One Design, where you a virtually bezel-less display and a sleeker form factor. It also gets One Connect Box for improved cable management while maintaining its sleek aesthetics. For audio, it gets object Tracking Sound (OTS) Pro and SpaceFit Sound for sound quality that is tailored fit to any room.

Both 4K and 8K versions get a variety of smart features like support for Google Duo, Samsung Health, Super Ultrawide Gameview for an immersive 32:9 aspect ratio, and PC on TV for letting you do work using the TV itself.

Aside from Neo QLED TVs, Samsung is also going to make its Micro LED TVS available in traditional TV form, with initial models sized at 110-inches and 90-inches. These TVs use micrometer-sized LEDs to eliminate the need for backlight and color filters used in conventional displays. With 24 million individually-controlled LEDs at stake, you get more consistent colors compared to conventional TVs.

New features to Samsung’s Micro LED line include a Monolith design with a 99% screen-to-body ratio, 4Vue for viewing up to four different content sources in one display, and Majestic Sound for 5.1 surround sound without the need for external speakers.
