Microsoft’s New Modern Keyboard Has A Fingerprint Scanner

Comes with a sleek new mouse too

Microsoft has always had their own vision for the mouse and keyboard, and today the firm from Redmond has quietly unveiled the refreshed designs for the two. The new peripherals are supposed to match the latest Surface models in both design and finish, and like Apple’s rendition of the keyboard, Microsoft’s Modern Keyboard has Chiclet style keys set in an aluminum frame.

But unlike most keyboards today, Microsoft’s offering has a built-in fingerprint scanner embedded in one of the keys to facilitate faster log-ons into your Windows 10 PC. The keyboard works in either wired or wireless mode (via Bluetooth 4.0) and is compatible with Windows 8-10, Windows 10 Phone, Android and even macOS.

The Modern Mouse meanwhile, has a rounder, more pleasing aesthetic this time around, with buttons that are neatly embedded into the design. It works via Bluetooth 4.0 and uses AAA alkaline batteries.

No word on when these two products will hit our shores soon, though Microsoft is pricing the Modern Keyboard at $130 and the Modern Mouse at $50.
