MontBell’s Solar-powered USB Powerbank is A Must For Outdoorsmen

DSC08855

Emergency power

One of our friends from Japan recently sent over a very interesting powerbank that might be of interest to people who love the outdoors. This is the MontBell solar-powered USB powerbank, a nice, little rugged powerbank that you can strap to your backpack. This little number is capable of taking a bit of abuse since it’s meant for the outdoors, and a nice little silicone cap protects the USB port. There’s not a lot of mAh on tap though, with the powerbank giving you just a mere 650mAh of juice. While that’s not enough to completely charge a modern smartphone, it’s enough juice to power it during emergency situations, which is useful when you’re outdoors.

This particular powerbank retails at ¥2,800 or around Php 1027, but we don’t exactly know where to buy it in the PH. If you have an idea where to pick this cool powerbank up, let us know in the comments.

  1. there are lots of chinese-made solar powerbanks around.. my concern is when you charge it under the sun, the whole thing heats up.. and li-ion batteries are not supposed to be kept in hot environments because it reduces their useful life and increases the risk of explosions and leaks.. so not for me.. 🙂
