Motorola Is Done With Smartwatches

Further evidence that the smartwatch segment is tanking – Motorola, one of the earliest adopters of Android Wear, has announced that they won’t be making or releasing a smartwatch in the foreseeable future.

Moto simply doesn’t see enough demand for smartwatches currently, which is probably the reason why Smartwatch sales have been tanking so much lately. “Wearables do not have broad enough appeal for us to continue to build on it year after year,” Shakil Barkat, head of global product development at Moto, said.

Barkat is still open to making new smartwatches, but the demand needs to be there for them to create a new version of their Moto 360 line of watches.

If you’re hell bent on grabbing a Moto 360, you can grab the second generation version launched last year which is slated to the receive Android Wear 2 update next year.
