Just like Motorola’s other phones, the Moto X Play ships with bare-bones Android 5.1 Lollipop, with a promised update to Android M later this year. The Moto X Play will also be customizable via Motorola’s Moto Maker service in territories where it’s offered.
The phone is slated to be released in Europe, Latin America, and Canada in August, and no word yet when the new device will make its way to Asia. Interestingly, US customers are left out in the cold when it goes on sale in August.
