Moto X devices are starting to receive the latest version of Android

Own a 2014 Motorola Moto X? You’re in luck – several owners of the phone from the US, Canada, Brazil, India and the UK are reporting receiving updates for the latest version of Android, Marshmallow. The new update weighs in a hefty 884MB and adds a number of new features to the phone that Nexus owners have been enjoying for quite a while.

One of those features is Doze that increases battery life significantly by putting your smartphone in a deep state of sleep, something that the endurance-challenged 2014 Moto X desperately needs. Since the OTA is already being sent out, don’t be afraid to check for it once in a while by going to settings > about phone > system updates. Once you do receive a prompt, plug your phone in, find a decent WiFi connection and start downloading it to get the sweet taste of smores on your Moto X.
